CCL(TI)-1c-1986-01
This is a rather complicated die clash found on a 1986P Lincoln cent that shows four separate clash events, two of which are rotated approximately 5° from the actual strike. Due to this rotation a counter clash has evolved and is seen on both the obverse and reverse dies.
This coin is part of Joe Koelling’s collection of die clashes.
The above overlays show the relative positions of the dies during each of the separate clash events.
The images show the various clash marks left by the four events.
The back of Lincoln’s head can be see counter clashed (indicated by the black arrows) along with other rotated clash marks. Notice the two clash marks that appear as arcs. These are left by the O in ONE.
Notice the rotation of the clash marks left by the bays on the reverse.
Again we see rotated and normal orientated clash marks intermixed with each other.
The vertical area between the cornice and roof of the Memorial building was left clashed by a normal orientated clash event seen in the image to the left.
The image above gives clear indication of four clash events. Also seen (indicated by a black arrow) is another counter clash; this time the base of the Memorial building rotated
Strong clash marks are left in bays 3 and 4.
The vest line is seen protruding from the roof of the Memorial building.
