ADC-1c-1988-03
This is a n unusual 1988(P) Lincoln cent since it has had 6 clash events occur. While the dies have been abraded and it appears that the obverse die has been changes out, there is still enough evidence to document the 6 die clashes. This coin was found by George dePozgay.
The image to the left shows one strong die clash and one weaker die clash event. The letters RTY from LIBERTY can be seen tilted slightly and are a product of the strong clash event.
The image to the right shows four more clash events that are not connected to the clash events on the left side. This is evident since these die clashes do not have a tilt. However, two of the clashes maybe due to die clatter (similar to machine doubling).
The first over lay shows the approximate location of the dies when the weak, tilted die clash event occurred.
The second overlay shows the approximate die position during the tilted, strong die clash event.
This overlay shows the die clash event that produced clash marks in bay 10 of the Memorial building
This overlay shows the approximate positions of the dies when they clashed leaving die clash marks in bay 9 of the Memorial building.
