ADC-1c-1987-02

Below is an atypical example of clashed die on a 1987 Lincoln Memorial Cent.

Once in a while a clashed dies example shows the fields of the obverse and reverse where they clanked together showing an altered surface. Those areas are sometimes noticeably shiny, removed are the die flow lines and other surface imperfections (and almost look like they melted slightly). Additionally, there is another surface change present on this 1987 LMC and it is due to the die polish lines. Because of the surface change, light reflects off of the clashed areas versus the abrasion lines differently and read as different values and hues depending on how the light dances across the surface.
