ADC-1c-1983-02
This 1983P Lincoln cent shows the possibility of having three separate clash events.
This coin is in the collection of Joe Koelling.
The obverse die shows signs of being heavily abraded to remove the clash marks. Even with this effort, some clash marks can still be seen behind Lincoln’s neck.
The extra thick clash mark that is seen from the bottom of the E of UNITED and into bay 3 of the Memorial building is another indicator that multiple clashings have occurred.
Even the clash mark left by the Back of Lincoln’s head shows the same extra thickness.
The best proof of multiple clashings is seen from the marks left by Lincoln’s forehead under the right URN. At least three separate marks are visible.
