ADC-1c-1959D-02
This 1959-D Lincoln cent shows the unusual tilted die clash. The obverse die has the tops of the letters TAT from the word STATES on the reverse die transferred to a point under Lincolns bust. A bar through the letters STAT of STATES on the reverse is a resulting die clash mark formed by the field below Lincoln’s bust. The tear drop clash mark seen from the right top bar of the first T in STATES was formed by the fold in Lincoln’s jacket. The overlay provided shows the relative position of the dies when they did clash. A 4° rotation between the dies is noted.
