ADC-10c-1988-01
This is a strong, unabraded die clash, affecting both the obverse and reverse of this 1988 Philadelphia minted Roosevelt dime.
The clashing of the dies occurred with a 5° offset from the horizontal plane. Which die had the offset is unknown. However, this offset did not occur during the striking of the coin.
The coin was supplied to MADdieclashes.com courtesy of Bob Piazza.
The obverse shows strong clash marks from the reverse. The first one is part of the olive branch stem protruding from Roosevelt’s forehead. Next seen are the PLU of PLURIBUS with some of the olive branch leaves in front of and in Roosevelt’s nose. Another partial leaf clash mark is seen in front of Roosevelt’s lips. The clash mark located behind Roosevelt’s head is part of the oak branch.
The reverse of this coin has clash marks originating from the D of GOD, just above the top cluster of olive leaves (the two smaller dots to the right of the D clash mark are unknown anomalies), the jaw line and throat of Roosevelt and continuing to his lips. The bridge of Roosevelt’s nose can be seen dissecting one of the olives.
In the next picture, the mint mark clash can be seen just below the left leg of the A in AMERICA, while the lower bust line can be seen just below that. The clash mark left by the lower portion of Roosevelt’s ear can be seen between the torch and the cluster of oak leaves. A small clash mark to the left of the IC of AMERICA was left by the backside of Roosevelt’s head
