This 1960D small date Loncoln cent shows numerous clash events. The above pictures show two clash events that are slight offset from each other. The overlay shows the stronger of the two clashes.
One of the clash events from above also shows the E from UNITED being clashed to the left of the lower part of Lincoln’s bust.
The corresponding die clash from the obverse die is seen as a line through the E of UNITED, which goes into the field in the direction of the left side of the Memorial building.
The overlay shows the position of the dies when they did meet.
A third clash event occurred, leaving a clash mark on the obverse from the top of the Memorial building roof.
The corresponding die clash can bee seen on the reverse die as a line, heavily abraded, angling upward from the Memorial building roof.
This series of clash events can be identified by the following die markers:
Obverse die shows a strong diagonal die scratch below the B of LIBERTY. Another die scratch is seen above the E of LIBERTY.
The reverse die shows heavy die scratching under the word OF and through the right side of E PLURIBUS UNUM.
